Keep Christ in Christmas contest

The Knights of Columbus of Lafayette Council #361 are pleased to sponsor a "Keep Christ in Christmas" poster contest this Christmas season. This contest gives children an opportunity to engage their creative talent and to express the true, spiritual meaning of Christmas. Entries must include a slogan and an original visual image.

Submissions will be due by mid-December. Click here for the Knights of Columbus page on the national Keep Christ in Christmas initiative.

Praying for our next shepherd

Fr. Phillips has asked parishioners of St. John Cantius to pray the following novena for Bishop Blase Cupich, who will succeed Francis Cardinal George on Nov. 18. The Knights of Lafayette Council #361 look forward to serving our next shepherd.

Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

1.O my Jesus, Thou said “Verily I say unto you, ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you”, behold I knock, I seek and I ask for the grace of ..... (Our Father... Hail Mary... , Glory be... )

Sacred Heart of Jesus I put all my trust in Thee.

2.O my Jesus, Thou said “Verily I say unto you, whatever you shall ask the Father in My Name, He will give it to you”, behold in Thy Name I ask the Father for the grace of ..... (Our Father... Hail Mary... , Glory be... )

Sacred Heart of Jesus I put all my trust in Thee.

3.O my Jesus, Thou said “Verily I say unto you. Heaven and earth shall pass away but My words shall not pass away” behold I encouraged by Thy infallible words, now ask for the grace of ..... (Our Father... Hail Mary... , Glory be... )

Sacred Heart of Jesus I put all my trust in Thee.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, to whom one thing alone is impossible, namely not to have compassion on the afflicted, have pity on us miserable sinners and grant us the grace which we ask of Thee through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Thy and our tender Mother.

Recite the ‘Hail Holy Queen’ and add, ‘St. Joseph, foster Father of Jesus, pray for us’
